Verification is about confirmation and accuracy: has a real representative of the organization claimed the profile and stood behind its details? That signal is free, and it is separate from whether an organization pays for an expanded profile. The labels below describe what each one means.
Free, and every nonprofit starts here. A public directory record built from reviewed public sources such as IRS filings and organization websites. No one from the organization has claimed it yet, so the details reflect the public record rather than a representative's confirmation.
Free. An authorized representative has claimed the profile and confirmed its core details — name, focus, location, website, and how to give or get involved. A Verified label means a real person from the organization stands behind the information.
A paid tier for Verified organizations that maintain an expanded profile — a fuller description, photos, events, and job postings — with every change reviewed before it publishes. Paying for Enhanced changes what an organization can show, not where it appears in a search.
A paid tier arranged through Insight. An Enhanced organization with an added, clearly labeled visibility placement such as a homepage or spotlight slot. Featured is a disclosed placement kept separate from relevance search results, and its content is reviewed like any other profile.
No pay-to-rank
Search results are ordered by relevance, and the default directory view surfaces Verified organizations first as a free confirmation signal — never by who paid. Paying for Enhanced or Featured changes what an organization can show and where it can be placed, in clearly labeled ways, not where it lands in a relevance search. Sponsor support, when present, is disclosed and kept separate from verification, ranking, and editorial decisions. If a profile looks wrong, use the contact and corrections page to ask for a review.
